10 years ago Tesla had only released one high performance road car, the Tesla Roadster. Elon had already planned back then that Tesla Motors would eventually release a wider range of electric cars that have no compromises. His Roadster could already beat a Porsche and Ferrari in a head to head show down but he dreamed of bigger and better. In his new master plan he is brutally honest about how the success of Tesla Motors was on a knife edge. He only wanted to risk his own money that he made from PayPal. So far he's defied the stacked odds against him. As of 2016 the list of American car companies which hasn't gone bust is only two, Ford and Tesla.
Starting a car company is idiotic and an electric car company is idiocy squared. - Elon Must
With the success of the Tesla Model S, one of the fastest and coolest cars ever released, Elon has shown the world that electric cars are the future. Not only for safety and performance but for emissions and sustainability. Keep your eyes peeled for future electric models from Tesla, they'll be more affordable than ever before.
Elon has outlined that he'd like a smoothly integrated solar-roof-with-battery that 'just works'. He'd like to empower us, the people to be our own utility and provide ourselves with the energy we need. It hopes to encompass the idea with one ordering experience, one installation, one service and one phone app. Now that Tesla is ready to roll out storage to the masses with the Tesla Powerwall a 7kW home battery system and SolarCity are ready to provide highly differentiated solar. He now want to combine the companies to reach his goal of providing sustainable energy.
If the past 10 years is anything to go by. I'm pretty much certain that Elon will deliver on his master plan. Tesla will be one to watch in the coming years. If you haven't already looked at the Tesla Powerwall you can find out more here.
